Duo is a multi-factor authentication tool that will add a second layer of security to your computer account. This second layer of security is a requirement for complying to security standards put forth by the United States Government to do business on Government Contracts. The software operates by providing you a code and or an approval prompt to approve or deny anytime a login attempt on your laptop occurs.

Once downloaded, reach out to the IT Help Desk and give them your phone number. They will add your number to the Duo Admin portal. They will then send you a text message with a Duo activation link and download link.
The first link will bring you the app store download page seen at the top of the article. This is an alternate way to download the app incase you're having issues access the app store. The second link will pop up a webpage that will ask you to allow it to open the Duo mobile app (Image bottom left) Click open then it should open immediately to the dashboard of Duo (Image below right)
Once done, the IT Technician will need to remote in to download the software to complete the Duo setup.
Using Duo
When you attempt to login, a Duo Security Screen will pop up that offer a few selections for authenticating. While in this screen, you have a limited time to authenticate yourself before it times out. Once timed out, you will need to login again and authenticate once more.
The most common form of authentication is the push notification. The push notification is sent to your phone by duo as a pop up notification. You don't have to be actively using Duo to receive the notification.
The image on the bottom left shows an incoming Duo login request. If you slide down on it, you get the approve/deny options show in the bottom right image. Once you click approve, it will log you in to your computer.
If you directly click on the Duo Login request notification, it will bring you directly to the approve/deny request that is waiting in Duo. You will have to select an option for it to clear.
