Barracuda Networks supplies DDC with email SPAM filtering services. As a user with a DDC or DDC company email address you have access to manage, block, and release messages sent to that address using this service. This article explains the features and management of that service.
- The quarantine digest (summary) is sent when new quarantined mail is saved in the user's account (inbox) since the last notification cycle.
- Each day the quarantine notification service runs for all users. If there is no new quarantined mail for a user since the last notification interval, no quarantine digest is generated or sent to that user for that same 24 hour period.
- If there IS a new quarantined email, the digest will appear in your inbox between 7-8am each day.
- If you'd like to modify this schedule, you can do it on an individual basis by clicking the "Manage Quarantine" button as shown in the image below, in one of your digest emails.
Accessing Barracuda
The links in the quarantine notification email allow the user to access their Barracuda Email Security Service user account where they will be prompted to enter their email address and DDC Microsoft credentials. Log in and view the message log anytime using the following link with DDC credentials:
https://ess.barracudanetworks.com
- Enter your company email address and click Next.
- To continue on to enter your password, click the Continue link under your email address
- You will be redirected to a Microsoft login prompt to enter your company password. Enter your password and click Sign in to access your Barracuda message log.
Management and Features
The links in the Action column allow the user to:
- Deliver – Click to deliver the message to regular inbox.
- Whitelist – Click to whitelist the sender. All future messages from the sender are allowed and go directly to the user's regular inbox.

To block or whitelist an email or domain:
- Highlight the email you would like to block or whitelist.
- A preview of the message will now show below.
- Here you will have the option to:
- Whitelist the email: Permanently allowing the email to come through the spam filter
- Block the email: Permanently blocking the email from being delivered
- Block the Domain: Only do this if you are sure there will never be any other email the organization needs from that domain name.
Accessing Shared Mailbox or Distribution List Message Log
If a shared mailbox or distribution list address has messages that need managed within Barracuda, there is a different login process to access outlined below.
- Access the Email Gateway Defense login page either by clicking the link in the quarantine notice or navigating to: https://ess.barracudanetworks.com/ and enter the email address of the shared mailbox or distribution list and click Next.
- On the following screen, select the "Email a temporary passcode" link to have a login code sent to the address entered in the last step.
- NOTE: There is a limit of 5 valid passcode requests within 15 minutes.
- Wait to receive the temporary passcode to the email previously provided and once received it can be entered in the following screen and click Log in.
Passcode Example:
- The message log is then accessible for that shared address and the management actions and features described above can be performed as normal.
- The temporary passcode can be used for multiple logins within the 15 minutes it is valid and all members of the shared address will receive it. To utilize an already generated passcode, click the "Already have a passcode" link at the second login screen.
